Airlines in Nigeria have contributed significantly to the Nigerian economy. Several airlines operate in Nigeria today. Some of them are headquartered in Nigeria, while several others only have Nigeria on the list of their ports of call with their headquarters located elsewhere.

Those airlines that operate in international space are referred to as international airlines, while those operating across the various airports in Nigeria are termed local airports. In this write-up, we will look at the top ten local and international airlines in Nigeria.

This is yet another of the leading local airlines in Nigeria.  The airline is pretty young, but it has proved its mettle among other brands; it just began operation in 2013. Its operations meet international standards, and it has one of the best customer services around.

4.      Allied Air

This is another leader among local airlines in Nigeria. Its focus is on cargo freighting, and it has proved itself to be unbeatable in this category. Their headquarters is located in Lagos, Nigeria. They have three aircraft in their fleet.

5.      Associated Aviation

The airline had been around since 1996; it can, therefore, can be considered as a relatively old brand name among local airlines in Nigeria. Just like Allied Air, Associated Aviation is also a cargo airline. They now cover several routes across Nigeria today.

6.      Dana Air

This is undoubtedly a very popular passenger local airline in Nigeria. They had some challenges years ago, but they seem to have gotten over it and are scaling new heights among the other airlines in Nigeria. They have six aircraft and cover four international l routes.

 

7.      Air Nigeria

They have been around since 2004. Their former name was Virgin Nigeria, with its headquarters at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport.

They have 12 aircraft presently and only up to 19 different routes across Nigeria.  The name of their parent company is Nikon Group.

8.      KLM

This is an international airline owned by the Dutch government. This airline had been in operation since 1919. Its principal purpose is to serve Netherlands citizens. The name it has today is the same it had always borne since its inception in 1919.

9.      Air France

This airline is owned by the French government, and it is categorized into for, namely cargo fleet, regional fleet, medium-haul fleet and long-haul fleet. They cover several cities across the globe, including Lagos, Nigeria.

10. Bellview Airlines

It was a leading brand among airlines in Nigeria while its reign lasted. It held sway as a unique brand since its inception in 1992 until it shut down its operations in 2009.  The airline had up to 13 aircraft in its fleet during its heyday.
